Tony Awards contenders number in double digits already

While the summer was quiet, 11 new productions have debuted along the rialto in the last six weeks. The first show of the season — “Time Stands Still” — is a remounting of last year’s hit with Laura Linney reprising her Tony-nominated performance. While that one is ineligible for the Tony Awards, the following could all contend:

“Brief Encounter” (Play Revival) — Opened Sept. 28
“The Pitmen Painters” (Play)  — Opened Sept. 30
“Mrs. Warren’s Profession; (Play Revival)  — Opened Oct. 3
“A Life In The Theatre” (Play) — Opened Oct. 12
“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” (Musical) — Opened Oct. 13
“La Bete” (Play Revival) — Opened Oct. 14
“Lombardi” (Play) — Opened Oct. 21
“Driving Miss Daisy” (Play Revival) — Opened Oct. 25
“RAIN – A Tribute to the Beatles” (Musical) — Opened Oct. 26
“The Scottsboro Boys” (Musical) — Opened Oct. 31
“Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” (Musical) — Opened Nov. 4
