Adam Scott readily admitted he was on edge about appearing on the hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation” last year as Pawnee assistant city manager Ben Wyatt. “I didn’t want to come in and rock the boat into mediocrity,” revealed Scott to Gold Derby senior editors Chris Beachum and Rob Licuria during their webcam chat. He added, “It was nervewracking because I was already a huge ‘Parks & Recreation’ nerd before getting the job.”
After guesting last year, he was promoted to a regular this season and figured prominently on the show as his character began dating Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). However, their relationship had to remain a secret as interim city manager Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe) had banned office romances.
For Scott, working with Poehler has been a true treat. “It’s gratifying when you meet the funniest person you’ve ever met, and they also end up being one of the nicest people you’ve ever met. She really sets the tone where it’s a low-key, fun set where you feel safe to do whatever you want to do and make a fool out of yourself.”
Should Scott be nominated, he will decide between two episodes to submit to the Emmys juding panel: “Media Blitz” (his character is endlessly teased about his past as a failed 18-year-old mayor in Minnesota) and “The Bubble” (Ben and Leslie move their relationship along and he is forced to meet her mother).
