Emmy snubs include Kyra Sedgwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Katey Sagal

Last year’s Best Drama Actress winner Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer“) was not nominated for the first time in six years. Neither was one of her rivals from last year — January Jones (“Mad Men“) — who insisted on staying in this race despite a reduced presence on the show this season; her co-star Elisabeth Moss did get nominated in this competitive category.

Katey Sagal may have won the Drama Actress Golden Globe this year for “Sons of Anarchy” but she went without an Emmy nomination yet again. However, her “Married with Children” mate Ed O’Neill finally scored his first Emmy bid with a Supporting Comedy Actor nod for “Modern Family.” While all four of that show’s men were nominated, TV academy voters snubbed the featured fellows from “Boardwalk Empire” including Michael Pitt and Michael Shannon. Recent CCTA champ John Noble (“Fringe“) was also left off the roster of Supporting Drama Actor contenders.

Carlos” may have won Best Foreign Language film from both the Gotham and LA film critics but it failed to impress Emmy voters who left it off the list of Movie/Miniseries nominees.

Sophomore comedy “Community” had been expected to earn some Emmy love this year after getting the cold shoulder last year but was blanked again. Also snubbed was four-time Supporting Comedy Actor contender Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother“).

Also missing from the nominees list is new hit “The Voice” which had been expected to get the sixth slot in the expanded Reality-Competition Series race. And Mike Rowe (“Dirty Jobs“), who won Best Reality Host at the CCTA awards, was unable to break into this race at the Emmys which once again nominated only hosts of competitive reality series.
