Gold Derby editors predict SAG Awards

As with our outside experts, the Gold Derby editors expect Oscar frontrunners Colin Firth (“The King’s Speech”) and Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”) to win at the SAG Awards Sunday. And the great majority of them are predicting both Christian Bale and Melissa Leo from “The Fighter” to take the supporting prizes. However, as with the pundits, our editors are split over which film — “The Fighter,” “The King’s Speech” and “The Social Network”  — will win Best Ensemble.

On the TV side, the editors expect closely fought contests for all of the awards with the exceptions of female actor in a telefilm or mini-series where Claire Danes (“Temple Grandin”) is the unanimous choice to repeat her victories at the Emmys and Globes and the equivalent male prize where Al Pacino (“You Don’t Know Jack”) is predicted to prevail.

Our editors are Chris Beachum, Matthew Cormier, Marcus Dixon, Darrin Dortch, Rob Licuria, Matt Noble, Andrew Pickett, David Schnelwar, and Ben Scuglia.
