The first edition of the Comedy Awards aired Sunday and drew an impressive audience to both the flagship network Comedy Central as well other channels in the MTV family.
The two-hour special ran from 9-11 p.m. and ranked as the No. 1 cable entertainment show in its time period. On Comedy Central, the audience averaged 1.4 million viewers for its initial airing. Among the key demos, the cablecaster was up 80% in adults 18-49 (0.81 rating) and 90% among those 18-34 (1.33) against the time-slot benchmark.
The kudocast was also shown on other outlets — including CMT, Logo, Spike, TV Land and VH1 — and achieved an unduplicated cume of 16.8 million viewers.
