Lady Gaga leads with six nominations at MTV Europe Music Awards

Lady Gaga may have been snubbed at the MTV VMAs, winning just two of her lowly four bids, but she leads with six nominations at the music channel’s European Music Awards (EMA). “Born This Way” contends for both Best Video and Best Song, while she completes for both Best Pop and Best Female Artist as well as Best Live Act and the new category Best Fans.

Katy Perry is up for the same three artist awards as Lady Gaga plus Best Song for “Fireworks.” And Adele contends for Best Female Artist and both Best Video and Best Song for “Rolling in the Deep.”

Among the men, Bruno Mars leads with four bids — Best New and Best Male Artist, Best “Push” Act and Best Song (“Grenade”). Not surprisingly, teen idol Justin Bieber is nominated for Best Fans as well as both Best Pop and Best Male Artist.

Last year, Lady Gaga won Best Pop and Best Female Arist and “Bad Romance” took Best Song but Perry’s “California Gurls” claimed Best Video.

The year’s awards will be held on Nov. 6 Belfast’s Odyssey Arena. Last year’s kudocast, drew 22.2 million viewers to MTV channels worldwide. Voting is open now at the official website
