‘The Artist’ voted Best Picture by New York Film Critics Online

While the New York Film Critics Online (see list of members here) has very little overlap with the New York Film Critics Circle, they too chose “The Artist” as Best Picture and its helmer Michel Hazanavicius as Best Director. They also agreed on Best Actress (Meryl Streep, “The Iron Lady”) and Supporting Actor (Albert Brooks, “Drive”).

While the NYFCC and Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. named Jessica Chastain as Best Supporting Actress for a variety of roles, NYFCO gave her the Breakthrough award instead. They named “Bridesmaid” funny lady Melissa McCarthy as their featured winner and gave the cast of this top-grossing comedy the Ensemble Award.
