The competition reached a high point last night when Vicci Martinez sang Florence and the Machine‘s “Dog Days Are Over” in tribute to her dad, who died before he could realize his dream to become a successful singer. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton agreed that it was the performance of the night. Christina Aquilera and Cee Lo were wowed by it too.
One thing that makes “The Voice” different from “American Idol” is that its judges belt out tunes too. Last night we saw Maroon 5 debut its new single “Moves Like Jagger” with Christina Aguilera. The crowd loved it.
“American Idol” has been nominated for Best Reality-Competition Show at the Emmys all eight years of the category’s existence, but it’s never won. How do you think “The Voice” will fare at the Emmys?
