‘The Last Airbender’ and ‘SATC 2’ sweep Razzie Awards

One-time Oscar contender M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”) was responsible for the worst film of the year according to the Razzie Awards. His latest critical flop — “The Last Airbender” —  won five of its nine nods: Worst Picture, Director, Screenplay, Supporting Actor (Jackson Rathbone) and Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D. Shyamalan was already a two-time 2006 Razzie winner for the tepid “Lady in the Water.”

While “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” also had nine bids, it had to make do with sharing just that Worst Supporting Award as Rathbone also appeared in the third installment of that franchise.

Unlike last year’s Worst Actress Sandra Bullock (“All About Steve”), who showed up to collect her prize, the four ladies from “Sex and the City 2” — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon — were absent from these kudos handed out at the Barnsdall Theater in Hollywood. Their film also won Worst Couple/Ensemble and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.

Also missing in action were Worst Actor Ashton Kutcher and Worst Supporting Actress Jessica Alba, who appeared together in “Valentine’s Day” and separately in four other bad movies.
