The only woman nominated for Entertainer of the Year is defending champion Taylor Swift. She also won Album of the Year in 2008 for “Fearless.” This year, she has two other nominations: Female Vocalist and Video of the Year (“Mean”). If she wins, she will be only the second female performer to win more than once, following recent two-time champ Carrie Underwood.
Kenny Chesney won Entertainer of the Year four times in a row from 2004 to 2007, but he has not won since. He has six nominations this year as a performer, including Male Vocalist, Album of the Year (“Hemingway’s Whiskey”) and Record of the Year (“You and Tequila”), and three more as a producer.
Jason Aldean‘s only previous ACM victory was New Male Vocalist in 2005. This year he has six nominations, including bids for Album of the Year (“My Kinda Party”), Record of the Year (“Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson) and Male Vocalist.
Brad Paisley is the five-time reigning champion for Top Male Vocalist, but he has never won Entertainer of the Year. This year, he has three other nominations: Male Vocalist and two bids for Vocal Event.
This is Blake Shelton‘s first nomination for the top prize at the ACM Awards. He previously won Vocal Event in 2009 for “Hillbilly Bone,” his duet with Trace Adkins. This year, he is also nominated for Best Male Vocalist.
