News Nuggets: The Daytime Emmys will officially air on HLN

The Daytime Emmy Awards will air on HLN. From the press release: “‘The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), is very excited to announce that the 2012 Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on HLN on Saturday, June 23, from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California,’ said Malachy Wienges, Chairman of NATAS. ‘Working with the show’s producer, Gabriel Gornell of LocoDistro, we are preparing a new, fresh, creative show that will honor all the genres that make Daytime Television part of our daily lives. These shows include Daytime Dramas, Children’s and Animation Programming, Game Shows, Courtroom, Talk, Culinary, and the Morning Shows.'”

The US Postal Service honors legendary film directors: “Four extraordinary film directors — Frank Capra, John Ford, John Huston and Billy Wilder — received a stamping ovation today with the issuance of the Great Film Directors First-Class Forever stamps. The dedication took place at the American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Center where some of their works were showcased. Emma Stone will receive new “Trailblazer Award” at the MTV Movie Awards: “It’s gotta be the eyes. Emma Stone will receive MTV’s first Trailblazer Award at the network’s annual MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 3 … The new award was created to ‘call out actors beloved by the MTV audience who are carving out their own unique and diverse path within Hollywood,’ the network said. Showtime makes its Emmy push: “The centerpiece of Showtime’s Emmy campaign efforts will be its ‘Best in Sho’ weekend, set for June 15-17, when it becomes the first pay cabler to offer free marathons of its Emmy hopefuls in collaboration with Time Warner Cable (in New York and L.A.) and DirecTV. ‘Homeland,’ ‘Shameless,’ ‘Dexter,’ ‘House of Lies,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ ‘The Big C,’ ‘The Borgias,’ ‘Weeds‘ and ‘Californication‘ will be available, along with such docus as ‘Rebirth.’ The season finales of ‘Nurse Jackie,’ ‘Big C’ and ‘Borgias’ will air as part of the free weekend on June 17.” VARIETY
