Best Performance by an Emmy Expert: Robert Bianco with impressive 64%

USA Today journo Robert Bianco galloped ahead of the other 14 Experts to earn the highest percentage of correct predictions (64%). He nailed the “Homeland” sweep, foreseeing all four of its wins. 

Besides Bianco, only two other Experts predicted “Homeland” would win Best Drama Series:  Maggie Furlong (Huffington Post), who was at 43% for her 19 picks, and Jill Serjeant (Reuters), who scored 39% for her 13 predictions. Bianco and Furlong were the only two to predict that Best Drama Actor win by “Homeland” star Damian Lewis. Only Furlong foresaw the victory by Tom Bergeron (“Dancing with the Stars”) as best reality TV host.

Lynn Elber (AP) got half of her 28 predictions right and was the only Expert to predict that win by drama helmer Tim Van Patten (“Boardwalk Empire”).

She and Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby), who got 30% of his 30 predictions correct, were the only Experts to foress that “Kennedy Center Honors” would win Best Variety Special. And O’Neil was the only one to predict Jimmy Fallon (“SNL”) to take Best Comedy Guest Actor. 

Mo Ryan (HuffPost TV) got half of her 18 forecasts correct. Matt Roush (TV Guide magazine) was at 46% for his 22 predix and was the only Expert to predict that Jeremy Davies (“Justifie. d”) would win Best Drama Guest Actor.

Four Experts foresaw that Kevin Costner (“Hatfields and McCoys”) would win Best Movie/Mini Actor: Debra Birnbaum (TV Guide magazine), Elena Howe (Los Angeles TimesMo Ryan (HuffPo TV)  and Ken Tucker (EW).

Ryan was the only Expert to predict that Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) would win Best Drama Supporting Actor while Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby) was the only one to foresee that Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”) would take Best Comedy Supporting Actor.
