Michael Ross, a 58 year old California man who works in the pharmaceutical and theater industries in Orange County, won the Gold Derby contest to predict the Razzie nominations. He correctly forecasted 83% of the nominees in eight races and also achieved the highest score (2120) when applying points wagered using Gold Derby’s racetrack odds.
“That’s an impressive accomplishment considering there are so many possibilities to choose from – especially at our awards,” says Razzie chief John Wilson. “For his sake, I sure hope he only guessed and didn’t actually sit through watching all of that crap.”
When asked by Gold Derby how he scored so high, Ross replied, “I did not have any techniques. Just chose according to what I had heard and from what the Gold Derby pundits say.”
His prize: Razzie Supporting Patron membership worth $250. It gives him and 19 others of his choice a free one-year membership, which includes voting rights.
Whoever predicts the most Razzie winners will win a free Razzie Lifetime Membership worth $500.
