What time do the American Music Awards start?

The American Music Awards air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on ABC starting at 8 p.m. ET Sunday. 

These kudos honor artists in a variety of genres crossing the musical sprectrum ranging from pop to country, from hip-hop to Latin and from electronic to inspirational. Winners are determined by popular vote, except for Best New Artist who will be chosen by the viewers of the kudocast. 

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lead with six nominations, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake have five apiece while Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna and Robin Thicke reaped four bids each.

Pitbull hosts the awardsfest with the lineup of performers set to include Timberlake and Rihanna as well as One DirectionLady Gaga, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

Among those expected to attend are: Marc Anthony, Kristen Bell, Michael Bolton, Ciara, Chris Daughtry, Fall Out Boy, Dave Grohl, Jennifer Hudson, Joan Jett, Lady Antebellum, Hayden Panettiere, Naya Rivera, Emma Roberts and Zoe Saldana.
