Luke Bryan will take down country juggernauts Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift in the race for Entertainer of the Year at the 2013 CMA Awards, according to our current predictions. He’s out front with 21/20 odds.
The relative newcomer has never won the prestigious honor from the Country Music Association, but he did pull off an upset last year by winning the same prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Shelton is the defending champ at the CMAs. He won for the first time last year, preventing what would have been a historic third win by Swift; no woman has won the top prize that many times.
This year they’re both nominated again, and both have the potential to spoil. Swift ranks second with 3/1 odds. Shelton is not far behind her with 5/1 odds.
Farther back is country music legend George Strait, who won Entertainer of the Year twice in a row, but that was more than two decades ago (1989-1990). Our predictors give him 16/1 odds.
Jason Aldean appears to be the odd man out. He won Album of the Year in 2011 for “My Kinda Party“, but has yet to win Entertainer or Male Vocalist of the Year. Our predictors rank him last with 50/1 odds.
