“Modern Family” won its fourth consecutive Emmy Award as Best Comedy Series at the 65th annual ceremony Sunday night. It is now tied with “All in the Family,” “Cheers,” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show” in the four-timers club, although none of those programs won four straight.
The all-time champ in this category is “Frasier,” which prevailed five consecutive years (1994-1998).
The victory by “Modern Family” also continues a 64 year tradition of broadcast network programs winning this top prize. The only non-broadcast network to triumph was HBO with “Sex and the City” (2001).
