‘Foxcatcher’ exits Oscars derby, leaps to 2014

Looks like “Foxcatcher” won’t be catching any Oscar gold this year. The studio is bumping it to 2014. At the time of the announcement, “Foxcatcher” ranked 13th in the Best Picture race and 9th in the contest for Best Actor (Steve Carell, pictured above) in our Predictions Center. Below, the press release:

NEW YORK (September 26, 2013) – Sony Pictures Classics announced today that the release of “Foxcatcher” is being moved into 2014.  SPC supports the decision of the filmmakers to allow for more time to finish the film.

“Foxcatcher” tells the gripping, true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion brothers Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) and their relationship with the eccentric John du Pont (Steve Carell), heir to the du Pont Chemical fortune that led to murder.
