Jennifer Lawrence has leapt up to fourth place from seventh in the Oscar race for Best Supporting Actress, according to the Experts’ predictions at Gold Derby.

Most of our Experts have now seen “American Hustle,” but a sizeable number still have not, so Lawrence’s ultimate fate  is still in play. But it’s clear she’s on the rise.

Currently, Jennifer Lawrence is in a virtual tie with June Squibb (“Nebraska“) behind Lupita Nyongo (“12 Years a Slave“), who has a narrow lead over Oprah Winfrey (“The Butler“) in second place.

Check out our charts to see how Lawrence has quickly gained momentum in the past week.

If Lawrence prevails for “American Hustle,” she’ll become the first actor ever to win in a supporting race one year after reigning in lead (“Silver Linings Playbook“).

  1. Oh, so according to GoldDerby, all of a sudden, it’s NOT “degrading” and “insulting” for Jennifer Lawrence to be nominated in the (lower-rung) “supporting” actress category, as opposed to the (higher) “leading” actress category???

  2. What the hell? That comment below doent even make sense. Actually Jennifer Lawrence being nominated doesnt even make sense to me in this role. I saw it and she did not not fit in the era at all, from her accent down to her ‘look’.
