After winning his fourth Emmy Sunday night for producing the 66th Annual Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris came backstage to tease next week’s Primetime Emmys ceremony, which he will host at this same theater.
What can we expect on the live show? “A lot of Gilbert Gottfried,” Harris joked, referring to the nasally-voiced comedian’s never-ending schtick at the podium minutes earlier. “It’s gonna be [Gottfried in] every intro, outro, whenever we’re long, we’ll just have him talk about what just happened.”
All kidding aside, Harris assured the crowd that the 65th Primetime Emmy ceremony is going to be: “A fun, tight show. We just passed the horrible insecurity section of the week, which is the week before. It’s a tough one. We’ve spent a lot of time this last week waiting for people to say yes they’ll commit to things or be a part of a bit or present or how everything kind of becomes cohesive. And now that that’s kind of settling, we can really get in there and work on different lines and dialogue and dance moves.”
Harris confirmed that he’s going to appear in the live choreographer’s number. “So I have to dance. So I think I can’t dance,” he said with a smirk.
