  1. @Vince Lette, they did, in 1957 when Sessue Hayakawa was nominated for Bridge on the River Kwai. What irks you about seeing three black people getting nominated anyway? I mean despite the fact that this is a HUGE longshot and is really just reported for arcticles sake, it still makes sense why something like this (should it happen) would be considered newsworthy. It was barely 10 years ago that two black people were nominated for the same category if I’m not mistaken. This is news, it’s a good thing, it means American film and Hollywood is continually growing into a more diverse industry, opposed to just, you know a white one. Like it or not, this IS history, if anything because it reflects that there are actually good roles out there for African Americans and other minorities. As a Hispanic, it’d be badass to see two Mexican’s be considered for Best Actor one year, like in 2006 when two Mexican Cinematographer’s got a nod. Hell yeah.
