Gold Derby polled eight Experts to predict the film nominees for this year’s SAG Awards. Of this group, Sasha Stone (Awards Daily) scored an impressive 88% to lead all the others.
Once again, the nominating committee threw a few curveballs: the snubs of Robert Redford (“All is Lost“) and Tom Hanks (“Saving Mr. Banks“) and the surprise bids for Daniel Bruhl (“Rush“) and Forest Whitaker (“The Butler“).
For the five film categories, Stone was correct regarding all 10 actresses (lead and supporting) and also chose Whitaker and Bruhl for their nods. Her only three misses were for “Blue Jasmine” as Best Film Ensemble, Redford, and Hanks.
Scores for the other seven Experts were: Edward Douglas (Coming Soon) and Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby) with 80%, then Thelma Adams (thelmaadams.com), Tariq Khan (Fox News), Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby), and Susan Wloszczyna (Roger Ebert) at 76%, and finally Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) with 64%.
Collectively overall, we did best at predicting the lineups of Best Actress (90%) and Best Supporting Actress (82%).
