The crowning achievement for all-time Oscar champ Walt Disney was the 1964 release of “Mary Poppins” which won five of its 13 Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Julie Andrews.
One year shy of the film’s golden anniversary, the Disney studio revisits the making of this classic in “Saving Mr. Banks.” Two-time Oscar champ Tom Hanks (“Philadelphia,” “Forrest Gump”) plays Disney while Emma Thompson — who has Oscars for acting (“Howard’s End”) and scripting (“Sense and Sensibility”) — is the redoubtable P.L. Travers who created the beloved children’s book.
Below, the first trailer for the film directed by John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side) which is slated for release on Dec. 13.
