‘Wreck-It Ralph’ gets best odds to win animation award from VES

Over the weekend, “Wreck-It Ralph” won top honors at the Annie Awards, including Best Animated Picture, and it’s expected to continue its impressive week at the Visual Effects Society Awards, where it’s the frontrunner to win Best Animation in an Animated Film. Four editors and more than 200 users predict it to win, giving it 8/5 odds overall.

But its fellow Oscar contender for Best Animated Feature, “Brave,” is not to be counted out. Two editors and 60 users give it the edge, placing it second with 3/1 odds.

Despite being snubbed by the Oscars, “Rise of the Guardians” is in third place with 9/2 odds, with support from one of our editors and only a few users.

  1. Wreck-It Ralph seems pretty popular with voters right now, but Rise of the Guardians did win best animated effects at the Annie’s this weekend. Just something to keep in mind. I imagine the Visual Effects Society will be purely voting on what film they believe had the best effects, not which film they enjoyed the best.
