Join our live Emmy chat with Allison Tolman (‘Fargo’) this Friday

Allison Tolman may be relatively new to the scene, but she already has a Critics’ Choice TV Award nomination to her name thanks to her breakout role on the FX miniseries “Fargo.” How does it feel to receive her first-ever nomination at the beginning of her career?

That’s just one of the questions we will ask Tolman when she joins us for a live webchat this Friday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET on Gold Derby’s home page.

Fargo,’ ‘The Normal Heart’ top Critics’ Choice TV Award nominations

As Deputy Molly Solverson, Tolman is one of the few characters on the hit program that actually has enough smarts to figure out the truth about what’s been going on all season in Bemidji, Minnesota.

In recent episodes she’s teamed up with Colin Hanks‘ character to try to uncover the small town’s bloody secrets, with potentially disastrous results. (Watch our recent webchat with Hanks here.)

What’s it like playing a character that was so instantly beloved by the viewing audience? Does she like portraying the hero, or would she rather have played a dastardly villain like Billy Bob Thornton‘s Lorne Malvo or a slimy weasel like Martin Freeman‘s Lester Nygaard?

Since “Fargo” is intended to be a revolving miniseries along the lines of “American Horror Story,” what future projects are on the horizon for Tolman now that she’s an overnight success? Does she like the daily grind of doing a television series, or are movies more to her liking?
