Those poor “American Idol” contestants – up one week, then bashed down the next. Last week Caleb Johnson was flying high, then this week he got shot down by all three judges when he crooned Lady Gaga‘s “Edge of Glory.”
Last week, everybody swooned over C.J. Harris‘ “Can’t You See,” but this week he probably wanted to disappear after hearing the judges’ critique of his “Invisible.” “It was really shaky staying in tune,” Keith Urban observed. JLo was diplomatic, but direct: “This wasn’t what it should’ve been.”
M.K. Nobilette just bombed out with Pink‘s “Perfect.” Everybody yawned over Dexter Roberts‘ “Cruise.”
Performers who nailed it gloriously included Alex Preston singing a new rock/country rendition of One Direction‘s “Story of My Life.” Malaya Watson took a big chance assuming a male persona while doing a lush melodic version of Bruno Mars‘ “When I Was Your Man,” but it paid off.
Jena Irene literally lit up the Nokia Theatre with thousands of glow sticks in the audience’s hands bouncing to her electronic take on “Clarity,” which the judges adored.
Judges gave split opinions about Jessica Meuse‘s “Pumped Up Kicks,” Sam Woolf‘s “We Are Young” and Majesty Rose‘s “Wake Me Up.” What do YOU think? Vote in our poll below. And make your predictions here at Gold Derby: Click here.
