‘American Idol’ tearjerker: C.J. Harris eliminated in Top 6 Week

As we predicted, it was the end of the road for C.J. Harris on “American Idol” Thursday night.

But what we didn’t see coming was the amount of tears flowing on stage after Ryan Seacrest announced 23-year-old C.J.’s elimination.

Everybody from host Jennifer Lopez, to C.J.’s mom, to the remaining five contestants — Sam Woolf, Jessica Meuse, Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston, Jena Irene — were all tearing up over the soul singer’s elimination.

While emotional, C.J.’s ouster was hardly shocking.

American Idol’ predictions: C.J. Harris or Sam Woolf will be eliminated this week

He was previously in America’s bottom three during Top 9 Week, Top 8 Week (Part One) and Top 8 Week (Part Two). During his final moments on the show, C.J. admitted to Seacrest that song choice was his biggest downfall.

As you can see from the chart on the left, Gold Derby’s predictions gave C.J. 3/10 odds of going home, followed by Sam with 13/2 odds and Jessica with 15/2 odds.

America pretty much agreed, putting C.J. and Jessica in their bottom two this week.
