As we predicted yesterday, Sam Woolf wound up in the bottom two of “American Idol” this week. But unlike Top 8 Week when he received the lowest number of votes, this time there was no confetti shower and Judges’ Save to protect him. He’s out.
Sam’s “Idol” run ended with a fifth-place finish, leaving only four singers left. (Cast your predictions for who you think will win amongst the Top 4 by clicking here.)
Gold Derby’s predictions gave Sam 7/5 odds to be eliminated, just behind Jessica Meuse with 8/11 odds. But Sam was America’s clear choice to get the boot … for the second time.
The chart on the left shows the order of who you thought would be eliminated tonight. Jessica and Sam placed at the top of the chart, followed by the season’s trio of frontrunners Jena Irene (12/1 odds of being eliminated), Alex Preston 40/1 odds of elimination) and Caleb Johnson (40/1 odds of elimination).
As for dearly departed Sam, the show’s youngest crooner was already eliminated once back in Top 8 Week, and as we informed you a month ago, nobody that’s ever been saved by the judges has gone on to win the show.
According to the judges, Sam’s two weakest attributes were song choice and failing to connect with the audience.
Sam was an early favorite to win the competition according to our predictions center. He actually ranked first place three consecutive times at the start of the live shows, during Top 13 Week, Top 12 Week and Top 11 Week. After falling out of the top, he never regained that winning position.
