After an eventful season premiere of “The Bachelorette” that included a party-crashing former cast member who tried to join the men vying for Andi Dorfman‘s affections, the remaining suitors moved into the “Bachelorette” mansion in episode two, but just as quickly a few moved back out again, including one who doomed himself after his hard-drinking left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
It all started during a group date in which several contestants stripped down in sexy routines for a crowd of hooting and hollering women – for charity, of course. Tax accountant Craig, intimidated by former pro baseball player Josh’s good looks – which he seemed almost as smitten by as Andi – loosened up with a few drinks, then apparently a few more, until he wound up drunk in the pool at the end of the night.
He later tried to make amends by singing her a song of apology, but she apparently wasn’t impressed – especially with an opera singer, Bradley, among her remaining men. He left without a rose, as were pro golfer Nick S. and firefighter Carl. That last dismissal was ironic, after Andi gave roses to contestants who had performed stripteases as pretend-firemen.
Those faux-firemen had to wait until the rose ceremony to learn their fates, however, while Marcus, who stripped for Andi in a solo routine as an air force pilot, got a rose immediately following the group date. She was impressed by his confidence and humility – though possibly also his abs.
Two other early roses were bestowed on Andi’s solo dates: to farmer Chris, with whom she enjoyed a day at the races, and explorer Eric, who joined her for a trip to the beach followed by a helicopter ride to a snow-capped mountain. Eric, as we mentioned last week, died in a paragliding accident in April, shortly after finishing filming on “The Bachelorette,” so it was bittersweet to hear him discuss his death-defying adventure in Syria.
The remaining 16 contestants are as follows:
Andrew, 30, a social media marketer from Culver City, CA
Bradley, 32, an opera singer from Holland, MI
Brett, 29, a hairstylist from Westminster, PA
Brian, 27, a basketball coach from Camp Hill, PA
Chris, 32, a farmer from Arlington, IA
Cody, 28, a personal trainer from Chicago, IL
Dylan, 26, an accountant from Boston, MA
Eric, 31, an explorer from Citrus Heights, CA
J J, 30, a pantsapreneur from San Francisco, CA
Josh M., 29, a former professional baseball player from Atlanta, GA
Marcus, 25, a sports medicine manager from Dallas, TX
Marquel, 26, a sponsorship salesman from Las Vegas, NV
Nick V., 33, a software sales executive from Chicago, IL
Patrick, 29, an advertising executive from Newport Beach, CA
Ron, 28, a beverage sales manager from Memphis, TN
Tasos, 30, a wedding event coordinator from Denver, CO
Does Nick V., last week’s first-impression rose recipient, have serious competition after Andi’s successful dates with Eric, Marcus, and Chris? Can any of the other men make a stronger impression on Andi before she sends them packing, or will more of them, like Craig, shoot themselves in the foot?
