Justin Timberlake may have been all but snubbed at the recent Grammys but he came roaring back at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, winning seven of his 11 bids, including both Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album (“The 20/20 Experience“). He also prevailed in four other Artist categories (Male, R&B, Top 200 and Radio Songs) while his disc was also named Top R&B Album.
Recent Grammy champs Lorde and Imagine Dragons led all other artists with 12 nominations apiece. The teenage New Zealander was named Top New Artist and claimed Top Rock Song for “Royals” while the Las Vegas rockers won five awards — Duo/Group and both Top 100 and Rock Artist as well as Rock Album (“#Night Vision#”) and Streaming Song (Audio) with “Radioactive.”
Pop star Katy Perry won just two of her 10 bids: Female Artist and Digital Songs Artist.
Hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won only one of their 10 nominations: Top Rap Song (“Can’t Hold Us”).
And last year’s Milestone champ Justin Bieber won just one race: Top Social Artist.
