Channing Tatum admits “Foxcatcher” was a painful film for him to make – in two ways. While portraying wrestler Mark Shultz, he took lots of hard hits. “You can fake boxing if you have to,” he tells Gold Derby editor Tom O’Neil in their video chat below. “But wrestling is not something you can actually fake. You really have to get slammed and head butted. That’s just part of it.”
But he also admits that the tragic events portrayed on screen are “a painful story. It’s not a light fare at all. This is based on a real event and we let people project what they think happened.”
