Four users tied for first place by correctly predicting 83% of winners (19 out of 23 categories): Jacob D., writtenbypatrick, Nawaha86, and msnowden1. But Jacob D. scored the most points thanks to his savvy betting.
Jacob D. only missed four categories: Comedy Actor (he picked Louis C.K. instead of Jim Parsons), Comedy Supporting Actress (predicting Laverne Cox and missing the tie between Allison Janney and Kate Mulgrew), Drama Supporting Actress (he went with frontrunner Anna Gunn instead of surprise champ Bellamy Young), and Animated Series (he expected “Bob’s Burgers” to overtake “Archer“).
Those were the only four users who outscored our best editor: Paul Sheehan, who only missed five categories (79%). Tom O’Neil finished closed behind with 74%.
Rob Licuria predicted 70% of the winners, while David Schnelwar and I were right 66% of the time. Matt Noble and Marcus Dixon scored 61%, and Chris Beachum scored 48%.
Overall, our editors were ahead of the curve, collectively scoring 61%, ahead of users who scored 57%.
The easiest race to predict was Best TV Movie: 98% of predicted the victory for “The Normal Heart.” But our predictors were most stumped by Best Movie/Mini Actress, where Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story: Asylum“) defeated heavy favorite Cicely Tyson (“The Trip to Bountiful“).
