‘Dancing with the Stars’ preview: Redemption for Charlie White? Curtains for Candace Cameron?

Last week’s partner switch on “Dancing With the Stars” shook up more than just the contestants and pro dancers. It also dramatically shifted the leaderboard, with some stars rising – Drew Carey, NeNe Leakes – and others losing ground – Charlie White, Candace Cameron Bure. What will happen when the stars resume their usual partnerships tonight?

‘DWTS’ Poll: Was partner switch-up a success or failure?

Figure skater White might be looking for redemption after judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman docked him points for his nontraditional take on the rumba. The Olympic champion emerged as the “DWTS” frontrunner after spending the first two weeks at the top of the standings, but he hasn’t led the judges’ scores since then. Now he’s an underdog: users currently rank him fifth to win the season with 12/1 odds.

But for Cameron Bure, tonight is all about survival. Last week’s partner-switch dance dropped her to the bottom of the standings, which means she’ll have to rely on audience votes to save her from elimination. Our users don’t think she’ll be so lucky, giving her 9/5 odds to be sent home.

But Drew Carey isn’t safe either. He ranks just behind Cameron Bure with 12/5 odds of elimination. NeNe Leakes and high-scorer James Maslow are also considered at risk with 7/2 odds each.

Meryl Davis can breathe easy; scoring top marks for the last two weeks, including six perfect 10s, she almost certainly won’t be sent packing tonight, so for her and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy the challenge will be maintaining the high standard they’ve set for themselves. Will the judges demand more from her after two nearly perfect dances?

The judges aren’t the only ones with heightened expectations. Our users still expect her to win this season (she has 8/15 odds), and expect her to be the week’s highest scoring performance (1/2 odds).
