Could conservative fans push Sadie Robertson to upset win on ‘Dancing with the Stars’?

This month, conservative voters pushed out a lot of Democrats in the midterm elections, but might they also have unexpected power over reality TV? “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson has made the final four on “Dancing with the Stars,” and though she’s an underdog according to our racetrack odds, we might be underestimating her red-state appeal. Remember Candace Cameron Bure?

‘Dancing with the Stars’ recap: America picks final four, but can Alfonso Ribeiro still win?

After a strong start last season, nerves got the better of Cameron Bure, and she struggled through some of her routines. But despite those mishaps, Cameron Bure, a devout Christian who discussed the importance of her faith during the competition, finished in the top three thanks to the support of voters at home, who kept her afloat even when she had low judges’ scores.

Sadie’s grandfather, Phil Robertson, received backlash for anti-gay comments he made in GQ magazine last year and has been a guest on Fox News, while Sadie recently told E! News that it’s “an honor” to be compared to the similarly conservative Duggar family from TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting.” whose anti-gay advocacy recently inspired a Change.org petition to cancel the show.

And if Sadie does have a powerful voting bloc among conservatives, she also has the benefit of stronger scores than Cameron Bure had. She has performed consistently well throughout the season, and though she ranked last in the judges’ scores going into next Monday’s finals, the four finalists were separated by only four points, so a strong voter turnout in her favor could yield a major upset.

Nevertheless, our users expect her to be sent home. She gets 23/10 odds of elimination, followed by Bethany Mota (3/1), and Janel Parrish (11/2). Alfonso Ribeiro still leads our predictions to win the mirror ball trophy, despite his recent injury.

But our top users are split. Denton, who ranks third in our overall leaderboard, thinks Sadie will get the axe, but Ryan Lapierre and Cordell Martin, who rank fourth and fifth, are both betting on a huge upset, predicting Parrish will be eliminated instead. Could Parrish really be at risk despite getting the best judges’ scores for the past three weeks in a row?
