Who has best Younger Actress reel at Daytime Emmys? Forum posters are predicting …

The 2014 Daytime Emmy acting reels are being made available for public viewing online. The roundup of episode submissions continues with Best Younger Actress. The nominees are as follows (click each actor’s name to see my complete analysis of her episode and watch her submitted scenes):

Daytime Emmy reactions roundup: ‘All your misdeeds are now forgiven!’

Kristen Alderson, “General Hospital
Linsey Godfrey, “The Bold and the Beautiful
Hunter King, “The Young and the Restless
Kim Matula, “The Bold and the Beautiful
Kelley Missal, “One Life to Live

Any of the five women are plausible contenders. Hunter King (“Y&R”) and defending champ Kristen Alderson (“GH”) are the only nominees who carry over from last year, and they submitted the longest, most emotional reels. “B&B” newcomer Kim Matula also brings formidable emotion to her submitted breakup scenes. “OLTL’s” Kelley Missal has a short reel, but it’s full of range, from panic to defiance. Meanwhile, “B&B’s” Linsey Godfrey is waiting in the wings to spoil the competition with a comic reel that stands out from the rest.

Who has best Younger Actor reel at Daytime Emmys?

I’m predicting King at the moment, with Alderson and Matula close behind, though Missal currently leads our racetrack odds. Do our savvy forum posters agree? Read some of their comments below:

eastwest: “But a road to a repeat [for Alderson] will be difficult with Hunter King having the strongest reel. Aided by soapy material, tears, strong screen partners in Josh Morrow (the best acting he has done since Cassie’s death) and Michelle Stafford, and the unfortunate behind the scenes drama, she’s ahead of the field.”

OLTLfan: “There’s no standout reel here and I genuinely believe any of these 5 ladies could take it … Alderson picked a solid, dramatic reel and gives a strong performance. I could see her repeating with this. King had the best material and did a solid job.”

SummerSoap31: “After watching all the reels I’d say I could see the winner being between three girls. Those three are Kim Matula, Kristen Alderson, and Hunter King.”

FreemanGriffin: “[Missal] gets to interact with both of her “fathers,” has had a drug overdose, and is quite moving. While I liked several of the other pre-nominees better than any of these five, Kelley Missal rated highest for me of these five.”

RichardR: “I thought Missal was strong and the drug overdose story was good material to work with. Are people going to understand her interacting with two fathers though? Will there be a bias against an online show that was cancelled?”

m.A.A.d: “I think it’s between the ‘B&B’ girls with Hunter King as the spoiler. For me, I’m leaning towards Godfrey just because all the other reels are just typical crying and drama, whereas her reel stands out as comic relief.”
