Congratulations to our User almostsideways.com for an impressive 60% accuracy as the best predictor of the 2014 Daytime Emmy Award winners. It was a very difficult year for making picks, with the next two best scores at 55% (rkenny4) and 50% (Roland_Torres).

In addition to correctly picking the Best Drama Series winner of “The Young and the Restless,” our champion had several other very impressive predictions. He chose Eric Martsolf (“Days of Our Lives“) as Best Supporting Actor, “The Steve Harvey Show” as Best Talk Show, Steve Harvey (“Family Feud“) as Best Game Show Host, and Bobby Flay (“Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction“) as Best Culinary Host.
A total of 59 people outscored our best Experts, Gold Derby‘s own Tom O’Neil and Paul Sheehan tied at 30% correct. Next up were Jamey Giddens (Daytime Confidential) and Dan Kroll (Soap Central) at 25%. The only other Expert to complete all 20 categories was Roger Newcomb (We Love Soaps), who scored 20%.
Four more of our Experts did not predict all 20 categories: Michael Fairman (Michael Fairman Soaps) got 5/12 correct; Nelson Branco (Soap Operas Uncovered) got 2/9; Stephanie Sloane (Soap Opera Digest) got 1/7; and Richard Simms (Soaps in Depth) got 2/6.
Among our Editors, Daniel Montgomery and I had 35% accuracy. David Schnelwar finished with 25% right.
Overall, our Editors were ahead of the curve, collectively scoring 32%, ahead of Users who scored 29% and Experts at 24%.
The easiest races to predict were Best Talk Show (Entertainment) with 88% picking “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and Best Game Show with 84% picking “Jeopardy.”
