Before the Emmys end up in the hands of the winners next Monday (Aug. 25), they first have to make the trip to the Nokia Theater just like the stars themselves. They embarked on that journey on Tuesday for the official “Flight of the Emmys,” hosted by the TV academy and United Airlines.
The statuettes were manufactured at the R.S. Owens factory in Chicago, after which they boarded a United flight at O’Hare International Airport. Passengers, crew, and employees had a chance to take photos with the statues en route — lending new meaning to the phrase “Emmy-winning pilots” — before they landed at LAX and were finally delivered to the Nokia Theater where they await the opening of the envelopes on Monday night.
