Emmy dream ballot winners: ‘Breaking Bad’ sweep, ‘Veep,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’

When it came to filling out their Dream Ballots, our users went with much of what we are predicting will dominate the Emmys on the drama side but their tastes are decidedly different on the comedy front.  (See the full results below and compare these with the Gold Derby predictions for Emmy nominations here.)

Emmy nominations predictions:
Breaking Bad,’ ‘Modern Family’ will lead

Breaking Bad” claimed top spot in four of the seven drama categories on the dream ballot: Drama Series, Drama Actor (Bryan Cranston), Drama Supporting Actor (Aaron Paul) and Drama Supporting Actress (Anna Gunn). And we are forecasting it to take all four of these prizes at the Emmys too.

Likewise, our pick for Drama Actress — Robin Wright (“House of Cards“) — is also predicted to prevail at TV’s top honors as will Guest Drama Actress Allison Janney (“Masters of Sex”). However, while we expect Janney’s on-screen hubby Beau Bridges to claim the Guest Drama Actor Emmy, our users would love to see “Game of Thrones” guest Pedro Pascal prevail.

The comedy categories are much different than we are predicting for the actual line-up. While we expect “Modern Family” will take the top Emmy for fifth year running (and thereby tying the record set by “Frasier”), the dream Comedy Series champ is “Veep.”

We expect Julia Louis-Dreyfus will take home the Comedy Actress trophy for the third year in a row but want Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation“) to win her first. And while Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory“) is predicted to claim Comedy Actor for a record-tying fourth time, Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine“) is our users’ choice.

They also want Andre Braugher to win for his featured role on that freshman laffer but predict Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”) will triumph for a second time. However, we both want and expect Janney to win the Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy for “Mom.”

And while we predict “Saturday Night Live” hosts Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon will take home the guesting awards, we would like to see Bob Newhart pick up a bookend to the one he won last year for “The Big Bang Theory” and for newcomer Uzo Aduba take the Emmy for “Orange is the New Black.”

  1. Can someone please explain the appeal of Robin Wright? I just don’t get it. Her performance is fine but nothing spectacular.
