The Creative Arts Emmys take place this Saturday (Aug. 16) giving you precious little time to make or change your predictions in the race for Best Comedy Guest Actress. All 13 of our Emmy Experts agreee that “Orange is the New Black” is going to win this race. But which of the show’s stand-out guest stars — Uzo Aduba or Laverne Cox — will be the one to claim Emmy gold?
Below, the breakdown of our Experts’ predictions that heavily favor these two “OITNB” ladies. Is it lights out for all of the other contenders?
Aduba is the heavy favorite to win, earning the approval of 10 out of our 13 Experts: Robert Bianco (USA Today), Mike Cidoni (Associated Press), Lynn Elber (Associated Press), Joyce Eng (TV Guide), Scott Feinberg (Hollywood Reporter), Matthew Jacobs (HuffPo), Steve Pond (The Wrap), Matt Roush (TV Guide), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby) and Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood).
The other four contenders — Joan Cusack (“Shameless“), Natasha Lyonne (“Orange is the New Black“), Tina Fey (“Saturday Night Live“) and Melissa McCarthy (“Saturday Night Live“) — are also-rans according to our baker’s dozen Emmyologists, although Cusack does get second-place billing from O’Neil.
According to Gold Derby’s official racetrack odds that combine the predictions of our Experts, Editors and Users, Aduba is currently in first place with 4/9 odds, Cox in is second place with 7/2 odds, Cusack is in third place with 25/1 odds, and there’s a three-way tie for last place with Fey, McCarthy and Lyonne all reaping 50/1 odds.
