Meet the guy who kicked your ass predicting Emmys

Among the 1,700 people who predicted Emmys at Gold Derby, three users tied for having the highest percentage of accuracy (66%)  — jonjon893, JoseGonzalez and PaulV — but JonJon893 won our contest prize of $1,000 because he had the highest point score (8,144) when betting against our racetrack odds.

See his predictions here. Check out the full leaderboard here and note that Gold Derby executive editor Paul Sheehan had the same top score (66%), thus beating all other 13 Experts, but he’s ineligilble for the prize.

Our contest winner’s real name is Jonathan Sydel, a 21-year-old resident of Coral Springs, Florida who works in a movie theater and elementary school library.

“I knew ‘Breaking Bad’ would sweep ever since its final season aired,” he tells Gold Derby. “As for ‘Modern Family,’ a show about a family of acceptance, I knew it would tie with ‘Frasier,’ especially because of the same-sex marriage plotline this season. But next year, ‘No, sir!’”
