Exclusive: HBO’s Emmy episode submissions for ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘True Detective, ‘Veep’ and …

Gold Derby has exclusively confirmed the titles of episodes being submitted to Emmy judges by HBO series “Game of Thrones,” “Girls,” “The Newsroom,” “Silicon Valley, and “True Detective.”

After Emmy nominations were announced on July 10, nominees were tasked with submitting samples of their best work to Emmy judges, who’ll view the DVDs starting next week. Series producers choose six episodes of each show, which are distributed randomly to three groups of voters (all members of the Television Academy are invited to participate) who view two episodes. Actors submit one episode to juries comprised of other actors.

  1. Somebody call the Emmy submission police! Game of Thrones screwed up. Lena Heady should submit “First of His Name.” The only option for series submission should be this: Tape A: “The Lion and the Rose” and “The Laws and God and Man;” Tape B: “Mockingbird” and “The Mountain and the Viper;” Tape C: “The Watchers on the Wall” & “The Children.” “Breaker of Chains” was easily the weakest of the season. Also, Veep didn’t submit perfectly for series either, but they will work.

  2. Agree completely with BurnBook. That list is much better than what GoT went with. I think they burned themselves by deciding that they had to pick 2 consecutive episodes for every tape – and never considered submitting the lion and the rose with the laws of god and man which make perfect sense when following each other.

  3. Yeah Breaker of Chains just shouldn’t be in there. Sorry GOT. I would have gone with Mountain and the Viper too, but maybe when Pedro Pascal didn’t get nominated they opted against it? Its my favorite show right now, but Breaker of Chains is a pretty weak choice.
