Indie Spirits Awards predictions: ’12 Years a Slave,’ all four Oscar acting frontrunners

The Indie Spirit Awards — as decided upon by the the members of Film Independent — take place on Saturday afternoon, just one day before the Oscars. We are predicting that this year’s kudos will offer an unprecedented preview of the Academy Awards, with “12 Years a Slave” expected to win Best Picture while all four Oscar frontrunners — leads Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club“) and Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine“) and supporting players Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club”) and Lupita Nyongo (“12 Years a Slave”) — first pick up trophies here too.
