30 Oscar Experts all predict Jared Leto (‘Dallas Buyers Club’ to win Best Supporting Actor

All 30 of our Oscar Experts are predicting that Jared Leto will win Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Dallas Buyers Club” at the Oscars on Sunday. That overwhelming support gives him leading odds of 1/10 to add an Oscar to all the other awards he has won for his first film role in six years. (His co-star Matthew McConaughey is almost as far ahead for Best Actor as well).

His closest competition is Michael Fassbender who may be ruing his decision not to campaign for his scene-stealing performance in “12 Years a Slave.” He has odds of 33/1 to pull off an upset at the Oscars.

BAFTA champ Barkhad Abdi is in third place for his film debut in “Captain Phillips.” He has odds of 50/1.

Also at 50/1 is Bradley Cooper (“American Hustle“) who contends for the second year in a row for a David O. Russell film. Last year, he was in lead for “Silver Linings Playbook.”

Rounding out the race is Jonah Hill who picked up his second supporting bid for his work in “The Wolf of Wall Street.” He has odds of 100/1.

  1. Huh? Why would Michael Fassbender rue his decision not to campaign for an Oscar? He made the decision to not campaign *specifically* because he doesn’t like the politics of it. Ergo, he’s probably fully aware that not campaigning would hurt his chances of actually winning. who writes this stuff?!
