Join our live Emmy chat with Kyle MacLachlan (‘Portlandia,’ ‘Believe’) this Wednesday

Actor Kyle MacLachlan is one of the busiest men working on television. He will be listed on the Emmy nominations ballot three times this summer: as a drama supporting actor for “Believe” and as a comedy guest actor for both “Portlandia” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

We’ll cover all those roles when the veteran performer joins us for a live chat this Wednesday at noon PT/ 3:00 p.m. ET on Gold Derby’s home page.

On the freshman NBC series “Believe,” MacLachlan plays Dr. Roman Skouras, a world-famous geneticist and a mortal enemy to Dr. Milton Winter (Delroy Lindo). He has been a fan favorite as the fictional mayor of Portland on the IFC variety series “Portlandia” with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. And his recurring guest role on “How I Met Your Mother” was as the very wealthy Captain who comes between Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel).

He is probably best known for playing FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper on the mysterious ABC drama series “Twin Peaks.” Although the program only lasted two seasons, he earned Emmy bids for Best Drama Actor in both 1990 and 1991. He lost first to Peter Falk (“Columbo”) and then James Earl Jones (“Gabriel’s Fire”).
