Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence earned an impressive four nominations at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, more than any other woman: Best Female Performance and Best Fight for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and Best Kiss (with Amy Adams) and Best Musical Moment for “American Hustle.”
And both her films number among the five nominees for Best Movie of the Year.
Is Lawrence destined to sweep this year’s awards on April 13?
Though her total is undoubtedly impressive, it’s actually one short of the five bids she earned last year for “Silver Linings Playbook” and “House at the End of the Street.” Add these to her four bids in 2012 for the first “Hunger Games” film, and her career total is already a whopping 13 nominations.
Of her previous nine bids, she won four including Female Performance twice in a row (for “Hunger Games” and “Silver Linings”). Does that make her unbeatable in this year’s Female Performance race?
She once again faces off against Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave“), who recently bested her for the Supporting Actress Oscar, as well as previous MTV Movie Award champs Jennifer Aniston (“We’re the Millers“) and Sandra Bullock (“Gravity“) and previous nominee Amy Adams (“American Hustle”).
Lawrence also shared Best Fight in 2012 with “Hunger Games” costars Josh Hutcherson and Alexander Ludwig, and Best Kiss in 2013 with her “Silver Linings” love interest Bradley Cooper. She is up for both of those prizes again this year.
