One of the key elements of the FX drama series “The Americans” is that FBI agent Stan Beeman lives directly across the street from the very Russian spies he is trying to find. We will ask actor Noah Emmerich about that storyline when he joins us for a live chat this Tuesday, June 10, at 11:30 a.m. PT; 2:30 p.m. ET on Gold Derby’s home page.
In the first season of the program, Emmerich’s character of Beeman lost his partner in a grisly murder. It has made him even more determined to win the Cold War with the Soviet Union. He and his estranged wife are neighbors of Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings (Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell), and he has no idea that they are two of the undercover Russian spies he is hunting.
In the second season his illicit relationship with Russian informant Nina Sergeevna (Annet Mahendru) almost caused him to commit treason against his own country. And some of his efforts almost cost his boss Agent Frank Gaad (Richard Thomas) his job.
Prior to this series, Emmerich was best known as the best friend to Jim Carrey in the film “The Truman Show.” Other films have included “Beautiful Girls,” “Cop Land,” “Frequency,” “Windtalkers,” “Miracle,” “Super 8,” and “Little Children.”
