All 29 Oscar Experts predict ‘Gravity’ will win Best Visual Effects

All 29 Oscar Experts are predicting that “Gravity” will win Best Visual Effects at the Oscars on Sunday. It ranks as the closest thing to a lock with leading odds of 1/10 for nominees Tim Webber, Chris Lawrence, Dave Shirk, and Neil Corbould to win Academy Awards. 

In second place is “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” with 33/1 odds. Nominees are Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, David Clayton, and Eric Reynolds.

The third position is a tie between by “Iron Man 3” (nominees Christopher Townsend, Guy Williams, Erik Nash, and Dan Sudick).and “Star Trek: Into Darkness” (nominees Roger Guyett, Patrick Tubach, Ben Grossman, and Burt Dalton) with 50/1 odds.

In the last spot is “The Lone Ranger” with 100/1 odds. Nominees are Tim Alexander, Gary Brozenich, Edson Williams, and John Frazier.

  1. The Desolation of Smaug definitely should win. Creating a literally flawless dragon was way more impressive than ‘space’.

  2. Last year, Life of Pi, the only Best Picture nominee, absolutely crushed the competition. This year, Gravity, the only Best Picture nominee, does the same thing. Do I detect a bias here?
