Paul Sheehan, Susan Wloszczyna top all Experts at predicting SAG Awards nominations in film

Gold Derby polled 10 film Experts for their SAG Awards nomination predictions. After Wednesday morning’s nominations were unveiled, the top scorers were Paul Sheehan (from Gold Derby) and Susan Wloszczyna (RogerEbert.com), who both correctly picked 80% of this year’s film nominees.

While some nominees were certainly easy to forecast, Sheehan had impressive picks with Robert Duvall (“The Judge“) and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” for Best FIlm Ensemble. Wloszczyna also had Duvall plus a rarely chosen pick in “The Imitation Game” for the ensemble prize.

They were followed with a three-way tie by Edward Douglas (Coming Soon), Jenelle Riley (Variety), and Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) with 76% correct.

Up next were Kevin Polowy (Yahoo) and Sasha Stone (Awards Daily) at 72%. The next spot was Thelma Adams (ThelmaAdams.com) and Thom Geier at 68%, and then Tariq Khan (Fox News) at 64%.

Overall, the toughest category to predict was Best Film Ensemble, with only 56% collectively being accurate. The easiest was Best Film Supporting Actor with 88% correct.

For our groups, the Editors had the best predictions, averaging 74%. The Experts were next with 73%, followed by Users with 70%.
