A total of 28 people beat our best Editors — Daniel Montgomery and David Schnelwar — who came in at 63% accuracy. All of the other Editors — Matt Noble , Rob Licuria, Marcus Dixon, and myself — scored a paltry 50%.
Our overall best Experts were Gold Derby’s very own Tom O’Neil and Thom Geier (Entertainment Weekly), who both tied at 75% (only beaten by the two Users mentioned earlier). The next best was Tariq Khan (Fox News) at 63%.
The other seven Experts finished at 50% each: Matt Atchity (Rotten Tomatoes), Scott Feinberg (Hollywood Reporter), Dave Karger (Fandango), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), Peter Travers (Rolling Stone), and Susan Wloszczyna (Roger Ebert).
The easiest picks seemed to be for Michael Douglas (“Behind the Candelabra“), “Breaking Bad” and its star Bryan Cranston, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep“). Hardly anybody saw the wins by Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey“) and Ty Burrell (Modern Family“) coming.
Overall, we did best at predicting the winners for Movie/Mini Actor (99%), Drama Ensemble (98%), and Drama Actor (98%). The worst categories were Drama Actress with only 1% and Comedy Actor with 4% correct.
