The SAG Award nominations sparked strong responses in our forums — spanning a “nice surprise” and “predictable as hell” to “ridiculous.”
The nominees who elicited the most passionate reactions were surprise film contenders Jennifer Aniston (“Cake“) and Jake Gyllenhaal (“Nightcrawler“), and fan-favorite Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black“) on the TV side. ThemeParks4Life: The solo nominees were pretty much the 4 everyone was predicting and a surprise … Surprised “Into the Woods” and “Foxcatcher” weren’t nominated for Ensemble. Now that Aniston got nominated here, I’m tempted to put her in the 5th spot for the Globes.
Tye-Grr: [Jake Gyllenhaal] was a nice surprise. So, either they just didn’t care for these films or they screened too late: “Selma,” “A Most Violent Year.” Expect them to have a presence at tomorrow’s Globe nominations announcement though.
Mike: Patricia Arquette has 3 nominations this year: “Boyhood” cast, “Boardwalk Empire” cast, and Supp. Actress for “Boyhood.” NICE! She is going home with at least 1 (supp. actress), and hopefully 2 (movie cast).
Sasha: For every Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, Naomi Watts, and Tatiana Maslany, there is so much rubber-stamping it’s ridiculous. Especially on TV side (William H. Macy anyone? Ellen Burstyn ANYONE?). Yup, they clearly didn’t disappoint me on TV side. So predictable.
msnowden1: After a couple years of complaining, [Maslany] FINALLY gets a major award nomination. She’s coming for that Emmy nom, guys! … Other than Maslany and [Richard Jenkins], though, these nominations are predictable as hell. And if [Jim Parsons] wins the SAG, I’m going to be REALLY pissed.
oopschoice: Emmy will look more stupid than ever if they fail to acknowledge Tatiana Maslany this year.
