Congratulations to our User cantcomeupwithanything for predicting a staggering 90% of this year’s TCA Critics Award winners in 10 categories. Next best were a quartet of our Users — Josh Labron, Vinicius Pereira, A_Steve_Man, and ConradoFalco. — with an impressive 80% correct.
Over 450 Gold Derby readers forecasted this year’s TV Critics champs, logging more than 4,400 predictions. To see how you fared, log in to your account and under your profile picture click TCA Awards 2014.
The only category missed by our winner was Best Drama Series, which was claimed by “The Good Wife” (which he had in fourth place). That means he made difficult calls like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” for Best Reality Program, “The Fosters” for Best Youth Program, “Breaking Bad” for Program of the Year, and “True Detective” for Best Movie/Miniseries.
A total of 57 Users beat our top Editors, where we had a five-way tie with 60% correct: myself, Marcus Dixon, Robert Licuria, Daniel Montgomery, and David Schnelwar. Matt Noble finished with 50% correct.
Also achieving 60% each were Gold Derby‘s own Experts Tom O’Neil and Paul Sheehan.
Overall, our Experts were ahead of the curve scoring 60%, ahead of the Editors with 58% and Users with 51%.
The easiest races to predict were Comedy Series (96%), Comedy Performer (93%), News and Information Program (88%), and New Program (85%). The toughest were Drama Series (2%) and Reality Program (2%).
